Kate Mitchell is a highly skilled and multifaceted circus artist, whose work engages and inspires audiences across the world. She specializes in fire performance, hula hoop, aerial sling and silks. Kate first ran away with the circus in 2013 and has traveled far and wide to learn from some of the greats; she has undertaken mentorship with Marianna de Santis, Lisa Lottie, Aisling Ní Cheallaigh and Loosysmokes.
Artistic work, that she created and performed in, has been seen as part of Cork Midsummer Festival, Derry Halloween and Pitch’d Circus and Street Arts Festival. She has performed in productions of varying sizes including large scale installations with La Fura dels Baus.
Kate worked as Circus Education Director at In Your Space Circus in Derry until June 2023 and most recently she has been tutoring and delivering choreography for Fidget Feet as part of their production of House. Kate is currently working as part of our youth team to deliver our youth programme at Circus Factory.
Circus Factory has professionally installed aerial rigging and all equipment and hardware undergoes regular inspection. All equipment is rigged at a low accessible level with professional landing mats mandatory for practice training. Our aerial Coaches are experienced aerial artists and have a high level of previous teaching experience. All classes are conducted with Covid 19 protocols in place.
The circus factory is such a fantastic place with amazing tutors. There is never any pressure to go higher or do anything I'm uncomfortable with but I still always find myself pushing my boundaries from the support and enthusiasm of Brenda and the students. Couldn't ask for a better environment to see what I'm capable of or better people to share a passion with.
“Finding circus was such a life changing thing for me, in it I found not just a physical outlet, something that had been lacking in my adult life but also a creative outlet, a place to be inspired and explore my crazy ideas”
“Brilliant venue. great for learning circus skills with lovely teachers”
The Circus factory is like a big playground where creative people play and work with each other and learn from one another. Exploring new movements is one of the most beautiful ways to entertain your inner child.
The equipment in CF is always improved/ updated and above all when it comes to aerial rigging/equipment it's regulated & safe. Knowing you can train on apparatus that is rigged well and checked regularly means a lot”
“The best place in Cork to get fit and push your limits while having a lot of fun.”
“Circus Factory has been an amazing organisation and community to get to know. By learning skills I never thought I could manage, It has helped me develop confidence not just as an artist but in my everyday life as well”,
