Circus Factory aims to support professional Circus Artists and those working in related shared artforms by providing an annual programme of professional training and development opportunities for individuals and groups at all stages of their professional development.

Masterclasses and workshops with visiting professional artists. The first intensive of the year was held on Sunday 13 January, when we were delighted to host Yeray Morillas for 2 workshops in Hand Balancing and Tumbling & Aerial Acrobatics.

Our second weekend intensive took place on Sunday 10 March: Kathryn Cooley and Maire Dee from Kath and Dawg Productions taught some excellent workshops on vertical dance.

The third intensive (6-7 April) was an incredible weekend with acrobatic duo JoliVyann.

We're currently gearing up for our fourth intensive with aerialists Kathleen Doherty and Alexandre Duarte. This is going to take place on the first weekend of June.

Afternoon Creative: Flow to Flight Aerial Dance click to expand
Ever felt stuck for movement on the floor, or do you feel like your aerial skills lack a deeper connection with fluidity and flow? Kathleen Doherty (IRE) and Alexandre Duarte (PT), both dance and aerial artists, join forces to lead this workshop exploring both technique and artistry in aerial.

We will focus on the exploration of movement quality, flow and connection from the floor to the air in your apparatus of choice. The day will start with movement and aerial apparatus technique. The afternoons will start with dance and flow based warm ups and some partner connection work as we build your relationship from the floor into the sky.

Taking elements from contemporary dance, butoh and years of experience building work on the floor and in the air, Kathleen and Alex are super excited to share and help you develop and grow your own voice as an aerial artist.

This will be perfect for an aerialist looking to expand their movement quality on and off the apparatus or a dancer looking to explore their expressiveness in the air.

You may come with a pre-built act that needs cleaning or an idea that you wish to work on.

Please note, this is a creative workshop. We will only be covering skills and technique in the morning. It is necessary to have at least a foundational understanding of the apparatus you wish to explore.

Open to all Aerial Disciplines. Rigging / equipment is available for further aerial skills including dance trapeze, static trapeze, aerial cocoon and straps. Suitable for all levels.
