Standing Acrobatics

For Mixed Levels

What is it?

Ever wondered what it would feel like to literally stand on the shoulders of somebody else? Or even pulling off the iconic lift from Dirty Dancing? Well, it's way more achievable than you might imagine!

This term will give you confidence in your body, your natural untapped acrobatic ability, the ability to move with more lightness, and a space to make friends and have the craic in a relaxed and playful atmosphere.

Your body has heaps of natural strength without any pre-training required. You'll discover, through working with different people throughout the term, the power of alignment and timing that allows you to achieve incredible things you never thought possible!

These classes are open level, which translates to plenty of progressions, variations, solid safety in the form of spotting, mats and a lunge belt, and a consideration for every individual student that attends, their possible injuries and abilities.

So, as these classes are made for everyone, we really encourage you to listen to the impulse that convinced you to read this far and book now

Why Join Standing Acrobatic?

  • Gain body confidence and awareness
  • Feeling stronger and lighter at the same time
  • Playful environment for making friends
  • Develop trust and communication skills with others and yourself
  • Have loads of fun!

What to Expect in your AStanding Acrobatic Class

The classes start with a group warm up with a focus on fun and socialising, some conditioning, mobility and body awareness exercises.

This is followed by the main skills-based segment of the class, where we work towards a certain pose/s or sequence and break things down so you can build them up, going as far as feels like the right amount of challenge for you.

Classes will conclude with some time to cool the body down, regulate the nervous system for a good night's sleep and integration of all you've learned

About Your Coach

Breandán Petrassi / @acroyogacork & @thehumanbalancer on Insta

Petrassi is an adventurous movement practitioner who has been exploring different movement practises since he was a teenager. Coming from a background of Parcour and Yoga, he discovered AcroYoga in 2014 which felt like the perfect synthesis of the elements he loved from both practices.

He has been teaching regular AcroYoga classes in Cork City since the beginning of 2022, building up to four weekly classes. He was featured on RTÉ's Today Show in late 2022 for his classes, launched his own website in the beginning of 2023, and was the co-founder of the highly successful West Cork Flow Festival 2021 & 2022, whose mixed movement mash-up was a driving force behind his motivation for opening his own mixed movement studio, Free Flow Studios.

Now more than ever he has a passion for bringing people together and reminding them of the power of connection and community.
