Paid Research and Development Opportunity for Circus Artists – Applications are now open!

Circus Factory is delighted to be in a position to invite 6 professional circus performers to spend a week investigating the storyline of the 4 lovers in Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. During a research and development week to be held at the Firkin Crane, through working in solos, dous, and ensemble R&D, we will transpose the narrative structures of Hermia, Helena, Demetrius and Lysander, and explore the different energies that come out of anger, jealousy, desire, and passion.

We are looking for circus artists who have experience and competency in general acrobatics, aerial (solo and duo), a specialist skill, and a background in both creation and performance.

Research and Development Dates:

Jan 24th – 28th 2022

Times:

10am – 5pm

How to apply:

Applications are now open  – please fill out the following form.

 https://forms.gle/uYgu5YEexQhj6n327

Closing Date:

Ongoing application assessment and interviews will be open until Jan 6th 2022

Fees:

Selected artists will receive a fee of €800 with an accommodation/travel stipend up to €300.

Our aim for the week is to develop our support for Professional Circus Artists with paid opportunities. Our future goal is to get further funding to develop this show into a full length production for Midsummer 2023 and present contemporary circus shows to Cork audiences.

For any queries about this upcoming opportunity please email cormac@circusfactorycork.com

This opportunity has been made possible with Arts Grant Funding from Arts Council Ireland
